PN insists government should publish health privatisation agreements

The Nationalist Party today said that the government should publish all contracts it signed with Vitals Healthcare Group after it was announced that the contracts had been signed.

The PN statement, signed by shadow minister Claudette Buttigieg, made reference to a press conference addressed by Health Minister Chris Fearne and Vitals director Ram Tumuluri. But no such press conference was held.

In its statement, the PN said that the fact the government does not want to publish the agreements led to suspicions on the deal which was orchestrated by chief of staff Keith Schembri and No Portfolio Minister Konrad Mizzi, who were caught having opened companies in Panama and secret trusts in New Zealand.

The media had revealed that the person who has been chosen to lead the Gozo General Hospital has no experience in the running of a hospital, and this led to more suspicions, the PN said.

The situation was creating instability in the sector and concern among patients, especially Gozitans, who will now be constrained to receive treatment in a private hospital.
