A 28-year-old man today pleaded not guilty to stealing a pouch which allegedly contained roughly €2,000.
Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit, presiding over the case, granted the accused bail against a deposit of €200 and a personal guarantee of €5,000.
The incident took place last Sunday at a shop inside Malta International Airport. Shaun Grima, a sales supervisor of the shop in question, was accused of stealing a pouch containing money which belonged to a Singaporian traveller.
The courts heard how the pouch was accidentally left inside the shop, and upon returning to locate it, the traveller found that the pouch was still there however the money had gone missing.
Lawyers Gianella de Marco and Gian Luca Caruana Curran defended the accused while Inspector Silvio Magro prosecuted.
