The police corps has launched a campaign aimed at creating more awareness about digital crime.
A video clip giving information on how to avoid being caught in scams accompanies the campaign.
Over the past year, the Cyber Crime Unit was involved in 240 cases, each of which was launched after reports from the public that they had fallen victim to digital crime.
These include instances when people sent money to an address after receiving a text message informing them that they had won a lottery and others who received an email telling them that money was needed urgently.
The police have appealed for people to check the credibility of such digital information and urged the public to report such crimes.
