A total 240,000 people have a tallinja card, Malta Public Transport said today on the first anniversary of the card's launch. Commercial director Daniel Grech said that in its first year the company registered over 32 million trips made by passengers using tallinja cards. The company identified the most frequent traveller in each tallinja card category: adult, student, child, concession and Gozo and has offered them the opportunity to travel by bus for free for a year. Malta Public Transport said there are currently over 12,000 tallinja card customers who reach their monthly capping, including a few who managed to make over 3,500 trips in a year, saving over €2,000. It said that the busiest day in the past year was October 30, when more than 100,000 trips were made with a tallinja card. The busiest bus stops, excluding the Valletta Bus Terminus, were Kullegg in Msida, Bombi in Floriana, Sptar and L-Imsida in Msida and Paola in Paola. The tallinja card was very popular with people over 60, with 75 per cent of people in this demographic holding a tallinja card.
