Delia calls for wide investigation into how PA is spending its money

Opposition Leader Adrian Delia today called for a wide investigation into how the Planning Authority is spending its money.

He was speaking at a press conference outside the PA offices in Floriana after, earlier this week, it was revealed that the authority had paid €8,750 to bring over a board member to vote on the controversial dg Group project in Pembroke.

Jacqueline Gili was flown in by private jet from Sicily where she was on a family vacation, and flown back after giving her approval to the project. The vote passed with 10 votes in favour and four against.

Addressing the media, Delia said the PA must explain how much money it spends on travelling and how much money it spends on what it should be her responsibilities towards the community, such as parking schemes.

The PA chairman said that the decision to bring Gili over from Sicily was his own responsibility, but when the government said it did not like the move he said that it will not be repeated, Delia said. The minister responsible had spoken of action that needed to be taken but so far nothing has been done, while the PM had said that he had not been informed of this decision, Delia said.

Was it necessary to bring her over, Delia asked. If no, then why bring her over? And, if yes, why allow her to travel in the first place?
