Gozitan local councils have benefited from €9 million over the past three years through 46 projects co-financed by the EU, Parliamentary Secretary for local governance Stefan Buontempo said today.
He was addressing an informative meeting for Gozo councils regarding new EU funds linked to the reduction in emissions and air pollution
The Parliamentary Secretary said that thanks to the local councils, Gozitans can enjoy heritage trails, renovated squares and multicultural exchanges.
He said that government has taken a number of initiatives to improve air quality, such as the closing of the Marsa power station.
