Increase in graduates at tertiary level

There were 3,924 graduates at tertiary level during academic year 2013/2014, equivalent to an increase of 3.2 per cent over the previous academic year. The National Statistics Office said 2,108 graduates achieved an ISCED level 6 qualification, equivalent to a first degree. Graduates at ISCED level 6 decreased by 2.1 per cent when compared to the previous year. Female graduates at ISCED levels 6 and 7 outnumbered males, while male graduates at ISCED level 5 exceeded females by a slim majority. In 2014, graduates at ISCED level 7 registered a noticeable increase of 22.1 per cent when compared to 2013. The majority of graduates were full-time. The areas of social science, business and law were the most popular, followed by science subjects. Men mostly favoured engineering, manufacturing and construction and science and women education and health. Social sciences, business and law was the most popular among foreign graduates followed by health and welfare.
