Third fake Mepa notice purports plans for mosque to replace Luqa theatre into mosque

Updated Tuesday 7am- A new fake Mepa notice was found at the Metanoia Theatre in Triq il-Gdida Luqa yesterday evening. In the afternoon, the second fake notice was found at the Salesian Theatre in Sliema . Both purported to show that a development application had been filed for the site to be turned into a mosque. A similar notice was found at the former Rialto Theatre in Cospicua in the morning, prompting Mepa to call in the police. In a statement after the first notice was found, Mepa confirmed that it was a fake.   In 2010, the authority had scheduled the Rialto cinema as a Grade 2 protected national monument. PL STATEMENT The Labour Party (which owns the Rialto) said the 'notice' fixed on the property was a total fake and there was no pending development application over the site. It said that this incident 'coincidentally'  had happened amidst a scare campaign about the American University of Malta (part of whose campus will be across the creek).
