Film Commission 'maximising' resources within the local film industry

Following a very successful 2015, The Malta Film Commission is currently on a drive to further maximise the resources within the film industry, the commission said in a statement. The Film Commission is actively working to push forward Malta as an ideal location not only for feature films and high-end television productions but also for the shooting of commercials. It is for this reason that discussions are now underway to incentivise this specialised market in order to strengthen the film servicing industry.

This month Malta is set to welcome two big-budget commercials which will utilise the country's unique locations as the backdrop for their marketing campaigns.  Apart from generating consistent work throughout the whole year for local crews, such campaigns also capture Malta's beauty and are a unique form of indirect tourism advertising.

As applications for the Malta Co-Production Fund 2015-2016 are currently being evaluated, in the next few weeks the Film Commission is also set to announce new initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of local filmmaking.
