A 31-year-old migrant from Mali was today handed a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to selling counterfeit watches and sunglasses yesterday afternoon.

Inspector Neville Mercieca told the court that Khadem M'Bay, who lives in Qawra, was caught selling the items at The Strand in Sliema yesterday afternoon. The man was also charged with selling items without holding a trading licence.

Magistrate Charmaine Galea sentenced Mr M'Bay to six months in prison suspended for 18 months. She also fined him €120, allowing him to pay €20 every month.
