The Parliamentary Secretary for EU funds Ian Borg this morning inaugurated the €160,000 'Mgarr Heritage Trail' project.
The Mgarr local council worked on the project in order to offer a year-round attraction that will draw tourists to the area during the off-peak season.
The project included the construction of new pavements in order to make the area for accessible and secure and maps showing the main areas of interest.
Dr Borg said the project will attract more people to the area and offer insight to Mgarr's history.
The Parliamentary Secretary responsible for local councils Stefan Buontempo hailed the Mgarr council's efforts for striving to improve the area's appeal to tourists.
The heritage trail will help both local and foreign tourists take in all that Mgarr has to offer, Dr Buontempo said.
He praised various local councils in Malta and Gozo for carrying out similar embellishment works with the aim of improving the product offered to tourists.
