PN candidate files libel suit against it-Torċa

PN candidate Ryan Mercieca today filed a libel suit against it-Torċa which last Sunday claimed he was in a mess for failing to produce documents related to EU funding to an association of NGOs. The suit was signed by lawyer Roberto Montalto. In a statement, Mr Mercieca said that since the Nationalist Party announced his candidature, Union Print embarked on a campaign aimed at ruining his reputation and destroying the respect he enjoyed among Gozitnas. He said that his participation in associations and political fora had always been, and would remain, for the benefit of Gozitans.
