New recruitment of correctional officers at Corradino Correctional Facility

The Ministry for Home Affairs and National Security informs that a recruitment process for correctional Officers is currently open at the Department of Correctional Services.

The position of correctional officers includes mainly the duties of guarding prison buildings and of inmates as well as the conduct of searches of inmates, officers and visitors.  Correctional Officers are also expected to perform  monitoring and guidance of inmates related to  the areas of  rehabilitation and behaviour.

Minister for Home Affairs  Carmelo Abela states that this recruitment process is part of the current reform being carried out at the Corradino Correctional Facility. Moreover this will continue to enhance the  working condtions within disciplined forces particularly within the Correctional Services.

He recalls that in the last three years, around 90 new correctional officers have been recruited.

Correctional officers play a vital role in the much needed prison reforms and are society's partners in the rehabilitation of inmates. Thus, the strengthening of this disciplined force will be fundamental to improve the provided services at the Corradino Facility both in terms of security, correction and rehabilitation.

A revamped induction training programme more adequate to the current  needs in the field of correction is being carried out at Ta' Kandja Academy.

Application forms will be received by the Director Correctional Services, Corradino Correctional Facility, Valletta Raod, Paola PLA1707 by not later than noon of Friday, 17th June, 2016.
