Government categorically denies claims inmates hospitalised due to drug overdose

A spokesperson for the Home Affairs Ministry has categorically denied claims that two inmates were hospitalised yesterday due to a drug overdose.

Sources told The Malta Independent that there was a "serious problem" in one particular division at the Corradino prison, with two inmates having to be hospitalised.

The Ministry spokesperson put the hospitalisation down to "health reasons."

The government will be issuing more information soon.
