The government today signed an agreement with the NGO Puttinu cares to support patients seeking treatment in England. Health Minister Chris Fearne said the government will pay a contribution to Puttinu in order to help patients with accommodation costs. The agreement will allow the NGO to spend the money it receives from donations on offering more services to patients, Mr Fearne said. The government will pay the contribution for each night the patient spends abroad. The Puttinu cancer support group was set up in 2002. It offers support to children suffering from cancer. A football and volleyball fund-raising marathon is under way today at the Marsa Sports club in aid of the charity. It is being transmitted on most local TV stations.
