MFSA chairman should be summoned by Parliament – Marlene Farrugia

Independent MP Marlene Farrugia said today that MFSA chairman Joe Bannister should be summoned by Parliament in the wake of accusations levelled against him by Education Minister Evarist Bartolo.

If this is not done, then she said she is prepared to move a parliamentary motion to discuss the situation, Dr Farrugia wrote on Facebook.

Her full post, following yet another statement on the situation by Mr Bartolo this morning, is as follows

"We have a Cabinet Minister strongly pronouncing himself in the issue of MFSA Chairman Joe Bannister.

"The least we can do is summon Joe Bannister to the Economic and Financial Affairs Parliamentary Committee , Chaired by Sylvio Schembri ,so that any Minister or Parliamentarian can discuss openly with Bannister in full view of the electorate.

"If Sylvio Schembri fails to summon Joe Bannister, within the next two weeks, I will move a motion to discuss the points Varist is making in the plenary.

"It is too serious a situation to be ignored any further," she wrote.
