WATCH: Man successfully deep fries water

Deep-frying can be used for almost anything: chips, meat, vegetables and, apparently, water. Jonathan Marcus, a man from Massachusetts, has lit up YouTube with a video showing off his skills at preparing a steaming hot ball of deep-fried...water. Marcus created the video to participate in "The San Fransisco Stupid Sh*t No One Needs and Terrible Ideas 'Hackathon'", an event that celebrates all useless ideas. The event was held May 14-15 in San Fransisco. Using a technique called frozen reverse spherification, a process used by molecular gastronomists, Marcus created a solid ball from water, which he later coated in breadcrumbs and tossed into a deep-fryer. Marcus' video gathered hundreds of thousands of views within a couple days. "That is the blandest fried thing I've ever tasted," he said in the video. The video comes with a Marcus' warning for anyone craving for a ball of deep-fried water of their own: "WARNING: This is potentially very dangerous. If water leaks out while the sphere is frying in hot oil, it may explode sending scalding oil everywhere. Do not attempt without proper safety precautions. Do not consume until cooled down or you may get burned. Also they don't taste...
